Suited to fit the FlatMate Fire Pit, the 320 × 480 mm cast iron cooking surface gives you plenty of room for steaks, snags, burgers, chops, chicken, seafood and veggies cooked straight over the fire.

The solid cast iron construction offers excellent heat retention, while the open grill design lets the heat and flame work directly beneath your food for that classic flame-grilled BBQ finish.

The raised grill bars help create those proper sear marks while allowing excess fats and juices to drain away from the cooking surface.

The 480 mm width matches the FlatMate Fire Pit, allowing the grill to sit across the top edges of the assembled fire pit and create a dedicated campfire cooking surface.

The open grill design is ideal for steaks, sausages, burgers, chops, chicken, seafood and vegetables, allowing heat from the fire to reach the food directly.

Suitable for campfire cooking, camping, caravanning, 4WD touring and backyard fire pit cooking.

Important: Always confirm the grill is correctly and securely positioned before cooking. Cast iron becomes extremely hot during use and can remain hot for a considerable time after the fire has died down.

Cast iron performs best when it is properly seasoned, cleaned and stored.

Before First Use

Before cooking, clean and season your Cast Iron BBQ Grill. Seasoning helps create a protective cooking surface, reduces food sticking and helps protect the cast iron against corrosion.

During Use

Position the grill securely on the FlatMate Fire Pit before cooking and check that it is stable.

Allow the cast iron to heat gradually before adding food. Avoid exposing cold cast iron to sudden extreme temperature changes.

For best results, establish a suitable bed of coals and manage the fire to provide controlled cooking heat rather than relying on large flames directly beneath your food.

Always use suitable heat-resistant gloves when handling or working around the grill. Cast iron becomes extremely hot and can remain hot long after cooking has finished.

Never attempt to remove, reposition, clean or pack away a hot grill.

Cleaning & Storage

After use:

Allow the grill to cool.

Clean by hand and remove remaining food and cooking residue.

Dry the grill thoroughly.

Apply a light coating of cooking oil to help protect the cast iron surface.

Store completely dry in a protected location.

Do not place the grill in a dishwasher or leave it soaking in water. Cast iron can rust when exposed to moisture, particularly if its protective seasoning has been damaged or removed.

Surface rust does not necessarily mean your grill is ruined. In many cases, cast iron can be cleaned, re-seasoned and returned to service.

Always follow applicable fire restrictions, campground rules and safe outdoor cooking practices when using your FlatMate Fire Pit and cooking accessories.
